Guanajuato, Gto., September 26, 2016.- A student from HS Guanajuato, Héctor Eduardo Parga Nájera, obtained the first place in the XIII International Olympics of Logic, that this year was held in Guadalajara.
In such contest, the delegation from Guanajuato had an outstanding participation, since David Armando Cortés, Carlos Alonso Martínez Palacios and Erick Antonio Matadamas Hernández, also students from HS Guanajuato, were also finalists and were advised by the Prof. Luz María Damian Muñiz.
In the international phase, the Olympics had a total of 223 participants, from which 91 are from high school. Young students from 13 entities in the Mexican republic and from countries such as Costa Rica, Venezuela and Spain participated.
On the matter, the finalist from HS Gto, David Armando Cortés explained that participating in the Olympics was a gratifying experience and defined logic as a mental gym that allows to exercise the thought.
Diego César Lerma Torres, participant student in the Olympic recognized the support from UG, and highlighted that you have to take these opportunities, because to know new things, you must experiment and be decisive.
For Lic. Luz María Damian Muñiz, participating in this Olympics is an opportunity for the young to value the importance of Philosophy and Logic, fundamentals for constructing a critic thought and above all, a social awareness.
The International Olympics of Logic is a competition that measures some logic skills through exams with concrete answers and multiple option. There are three categories inside the competition: high school, major and masters.
During the elimination phases, the students were advised and supported by the professors: Alejandro Lugo Martínez from HS Salamanca; Luz María Damian Muñiz, Sandra María del Carmen Rangel Vázquez and José de Jesús Luna Vázquez of HS Guanajuato.
The event is organized by the Mexican Association of Logic for over 13 years. In the first stage –in the state of Guanajuato—six students were selected, all members from the High School College of the University of Guanajuato.
