Guanajuato, Gto., September 29, 2016.- The National Council for the Quality of Touristic Education (CONAET), recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education (COPAES), re-accredited the program of the major degree in Touristic Resources Management from the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA) of Campus Guanajuato from the University of Guanajuato (UG).

Lic. Rafael Gutiérrez Niebla, CONAET's President, delivered the document that re-accredits the major for the period of June 30, 2016 – June 29, 2021, for fulfilling the requirements of educational quality demanded by such organism.

To the formal ceremony, attended UG's Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa, representing Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, UG's General Rector; M.A. Fernando Olivera Rocha, Secretary of Tourism of the state of Guanajuato and members of the Consulting Council of the degree.

Dr. Rodríguez de la Rosa, thanked M.A. Olivera Rocha for being an engaged "partner" and solidary with the University, which was able to approve as director of DCEA, when he knew the seriousness of the Secretary of Tourism to add in pro of the academic improvement and the own state of Guanajuato.

Equally, he thanked all and each one of the members of the Consultant Council: Lic. María del Refugio Ruiz Velazco, President; Lic. Salvador Alejandro Jaime, Director of Municipal Tourism; Lic. José Luis Rivera, President of the College of Graduates in Tourism; Mario Aguado, founder and lifelong member; CANIRAC's President; and the President of the Association of Hotels and Motels of Guanajuato, because only through the support of engaged experts who share the university values, he said, is that they can assure that the educative programs stick to reality.

On behalf of Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López, DCEA's Director, M.A. Velino Esteves Jiménez, Academic Secretary, highlighted that the re-accreditation doesn't correspond to one person but a team with common objectives: links, program's coordinator, students and professors and administrative personnel.

In his message, M.A. Fernando Olivera Rocha, Secretary of Tourism of the State, observed that in Guanajuato the second economic generator is tourism. This entity is the fifth employer of tourism in the country and generates seventy-five thousand millions of pesos a year, which means the 9% of the GDP from the state.

In his opportunity, Lic. Gutiérrez Niebla, reminded that the re-accreditation is a commitment that restarts 10 years after being accredited and then make evaluations every two years and a half. He explained that the accreditation is born by the globalization and by the academic mobility, and seeks, precisely, the quality in higher education.

For this particular case, he indicated, 143 indicators were reviewed and three evaluating peers interviewed the community at DCEA, reviewed the study plan thoroughly, among other actions, result from which they left a series of recommendations and suggestions in 110 pages that integrate the analysis.

Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla, Academic Secretary, representing Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of Campus Guanajuato, highlighted at the same time that the program's reaccreditation, fills with pride because it is a public recognition before the academic and administrative community at UG, as well as before the society in Guanajuato.

In a thorough review from all educational and administrative aspects of an academic program, with the purpose to prove their quality, good functioning and solidity of the academic staff and relevance of the study plan, she said.
