
Guanajuato, Gto., September 28, 2016.- Joaquín (a.k.a.) "el Flaco" Arias, was distinguished with the "Pípila de Plata" by the Club Leones of Marfil A.C., in its XXX edition, for his outstanding encouragement of Scenic and Musical Arts of Guanajuato.
During this solemn ceremony, Joaquín Arias Espinoza assured that this medal is one of the most appreciated by the population and the fact that is granted by the citizens, makes it more valuable.
On her part, representing UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the Director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud López read an emotive letter written by Dr. Guerrero Agripino with the purpose to join this social distinction.
He pointed out that with a 61-year experience in University Theater, the actions in favor are unaccountable towards the University, but to the society and diverse public institutions in the cultural area.
The President of Club Leones de Marfil A.C., Lic. Luis Manuel Orozco Arroyo, said that it is an honor to recognize a person who has left an important footprint in the cultural area with an impact on the state. He mentioned that "Flaco" Arias' achievements are an example of effort, dedication and calling of service, these being some of the qualities sought by the Club Leones de Marfil.
Mr. Joaquín Arias Espinoza "Flaco Arias" of Technical formation, as Agricultural Agronomist, but with humanistic calling and artistic aptitude; in 1995 began his taste for culture and was part of the University Theater, where his professionalism outstood for more than 40 years.
Joaquín Arias has been a student, master, actor, community theater performer, founder of the Estudiantina of the University of Guanajuato, creator of the Gardens of Art and Director of the House of Culture.
He is recognized by the people of Guanajuato for his impetuosity and tenacity, which led him to encourage the popular culture, being a sensitive and innovative person that turns him into a worthy character to be distinguished not only for the medal but for society and the university community.
