Guanajuato, Gto., September 30, 2016.- "Few times this is spoken of, but sometimes there are very esthetic results or formulas, that motivate you to continue looking the beauty of Mathematics," defined Francisco Gómez Hernández his posture to this branch of the so called exact sciences.

Francisco is from Tulancingo, Hidalgo and is on the ninth semester of the degree in Basic Mathematics at the University of Guanajuato (UG), where it has outstood for his constant presence and triumphs in the subject.

Recently, the young student returned from Manaus, Brazil with the gold medal, after participating in the Spanish-American Olympic in the university level, where he scored the highest score surpassing the Brazilian who remained as champions.

He commented that Mexico has a good level in Mathematics, since it knows a considerable number of people that work for businesses in the level of Microsoft or Google, or in European countries.

However, the young promise said that he understands why in some sectors there is an aversion to this science, since he assured the problem is "the mechanical form its taught, they give you formulas to follow but never teach you to use the tools differently."

Hence, excitedly commented, that he would like to return to Brazil to continue studying a postgraduate in the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematic (IMPA), interested specially by dynamic systems, that study the evolution of the systems regarding time.

"For example, observing the development of economy you can predict if the peso decreases or increases; on the weather, you can predict intensity or movement of a hurricane; or in diseases, to know how they spread," he pointed out.

Afterwards, Francisco was engaged with returning to Mexico, where he assured there is a lot of work to do, since the country in certain fields "still is in diapers."

Francisco has outstood since junior high school in Mathematics, where he won by three consecutive years the State Olympics. Equally, in high school he obtained three silver medals in the national level.

Since 2012, as a college student, the constancy of work hasn't stopped, being the first place in international contests such as Pierre de Fermat, celebrated in the National Polytechnic Institute.

For 2013, he was awarded with the silver medal in Colombia, in the Spanish-American Olympics in the college level. The next year, he obtained the gold medal in Bulgaria, in the International Mathematics Competition (IMC).

In recent years, he has won gold in several university competitions, such as the recent in Brazil. Nevertheless, he said, what is next are the postgraduate studies.
