
Celaya, Gto., October 3, 2016.- One of the recently created programs at Campus Celaya-Salvatierra through the Division of Health Sciences and Engineering is the program of Biotechnology Engineering. The degree develops from a joint work with INIFAP (National Institute of Forest, Agricultural and Livestock Research) and the University of Guanajuato (UG).
Biotechnology combines Biology and Technology considering the living beings as biological machines, hence, uses biological machinery of the living beings to benefit the human. This study is found in medicine and animal health, participating in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
The program divides intro three important areas: food, bioprocesses and the agricultural application. Three years from its creation, it now has a laboratory tower in the venue Salvatierra for the agricultural, biotechnological area and a micro biotechnology laboratory. All that from an investment of more than one million pesos.
The study plan has more than 59 learning units, with a value of 475 credits to be coursed in 4 and a half years.
The graduate profile of the Biotechnology Engineer allows him to perform their professional practice with quality, managing to genetically transform living beings or part of them to obtain new products that contribute the wellbeing of the population.
The graduate could also develop physiological and biochemical processes of the plants, identify and analyze genomes of organisms with means of diagnosis, generate and adapt biotechnological processes in the elaboration of products improving the competitiveness of the business and improving the life quality of the population.
