Guanajuato, Gto., October 4, 2016.- As part of the efforts from the University of Guanajuato (UG) to encourage a culture of liaison and service to society, it was held for the eighth time the Diploma of Sustainable Rural Tourism.
The Diploma is aimed for farmers up north the state of Guanajuato and has the objective to teach them how to better use in a sustainable fashion the richness of the natural and cultural heritage their communities possess.
Scholars of UG and other institutions shared with more than 30 peasants, their knowledge and experiences, who together developed diverse activities and talks that promoted a culture of balance between environment and society.
As part of the modules of the Diploma, the Director of Infrastructure and University Services, M.A. Eloy Juárez Sandoval shared with the attendants the secrets of auto-construction and the needs of a functional home; in addition, the director of the Museum Alfredo Dugés, Biologist Gloria Magaña, taught the module where they covered the issue "What's going on with the planet? What are the mammals? and the role of the bats".
Dr. Guillermo Mora Campos, offered the workshop "Chronic-degenerative illnesses"; psychologist Yatziri Parra Mac Pherson exposed the topic "What has violence done to me? in addition, the nutritionist Pilar Quintanilla Martínez shared relevant points on the importance and need of going back to an organic traditional agriculture; the doctorate student Erasmo Ortíz shared the workshop to learn how to make a promotional poster.
Also, the doctorate student Julio César Martínez Arredondo, addressed the issue of hydrologic regions, and invited the students to make their own rain water density measurers for their respective communities, as well as the human and physical geography.
Finally, the attendants made bead handcrafts in charge of the artisan Uriel Vega. Besides, who were part of the group, attended to the cooperative experience of Tosepan Kali in Cuetzalan, Puebla, where they had the opportunity to learn on the culture of coffee, pepper, cinnamon, honey, as well as the places where they export them.
Besides the University of Guanajuato, to make this diploma possible, participated the Department of Social and Human Development of State Government; the Civil Association Probienestar La Noria; Puerto del Aire, Cultural Space; and the Center of Agricultural Development (CEDESA).
