Guanajuato, Gto., October 5, 2016.- Students from HS Guanajuato obtained an outstanding participation in the Science and Technology Fair.
The state contest consists on presenting scientific and/or technological projects with the finality to reward creativity, originality and scientific merit of students in the basic, high and higher levels (from 14 years old to 20 years old) enrolled in public or private educational institutions established in the state of Guanajuato.
The organization of the fair was in charge of the Coordination of Special Projects of the Council of Science, Technology and Innovation of the State, this time 198 projects, 6 teams from HS Guanajuato were in the final.
The school obtained the first place and the gold medal with the project "Almaidón" composed by the students Ollin Yaznic Rosas Estudillo and Carolina Lisette Moreno Galván, advised by Dr. Claudia Ericka Morales Hernández.
The winning project consisted in the elaboration of a preparation based on starch that reduce the sugar level in the blood, participating in the category Medicine and Health.
Equally, the School obtained a bronze medal, with the project titled Friendly Biofilms, the winning student was Yaret Valeria Rodríguez Aguilar from the third semester who was advised by M.A. María del Carmen Rodríguez. The project consists in generating a kind of biodegradable membrane that protects fruit from the oxidation and decomposition processes; the materials are biodegradable, and based on pectin extracted from fruit and mucilage of nopal.
With this, the school stands out in the state level and for the participant students was a great experience since in the final were representative teams of UG.
