León, Gto., October 5, 2016. The educational program of Nutrition of Campus Leon from the University of Guanajuato celebrated its XX anniversary with an academic-cultural journey where students, graduates and professors from the degree were present with the motto "Where we are and where we are heading."

Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of Campus Leon, led the protocol ceremony where he highlighted the quality of the program of Nutrition approved by the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES) at Level I, with a validity until July 2020.

The result of this evaluation proved that most of the established satisfactory indicators are fulfilled: adequate academic staff to the purposes of the program, updated plans and programs of study and sufficient infrastructure. He asserted that the University of Guanajuato fully covers the quality, opportunity and relevance of each one of the educational programs.

Representing the General Rector of the University, attended Dr. Jorge Alberto Romero Hidalgo, Secretary of Management and Development, who in his speech positioned this event as an academic encounter that converges in social celebration through the fulfillment of the essential functions of the institution. Highlighted that UG confirms its responsibility in the formation of human resources engaged with the environment.

Besides, Dr. Luz Elvia Vera Becerra, current coordinator of the degree in Nutrition, remembered some of the representative passages of the foundation and the encouragement that the professors-researchers from the department have contributed to teaching.

On his part, Dr. J. Asunción López Cruz, Coordinator of Health Services from the Sanitary Jurisdiction VII, representing the Secretary of Health, Dr. Francisco Ignacio Ortiz Aldana, emphasized that the current health system continuously works to act in a multidisciplinary fashion, and in it, the Nutrition graduate plays an important role in the current epidemic with the non-transmittable diseases. He also made an invitation to act towards a preventive medicine and exercise the profession from the comprehensive attention of the patient: individually, family and community.

Also present were Dr. Tonatiuh García Campos, Director of the Division of Health Sciences; Dr. Francisco Ernesto González Bravo, Director of the Department of Medicine and Nutrition of Campus Leon and M.A. Rafael Díaz García, President of the Mexican Association of Members of Faculties and Schools of Nutrition.
