Salamanca, Gto., October 7, 2016.- Students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) entered the society of honor and excellence in Mechanical Engineering: Pi Tau Sigma fraternity; which has 174 chapters in United States and Canada, and only one in Mexico.

Through the chapter Betha Theta Guanajuato, belonging to the University of Guanajuato, entered as honorary members: Salvador Botello Aceves and Dr. Jo´se Luis Luviano Ortíz, graduates from the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca.

Also as new members entered Luis Enrique Paniagua Guerra and Ana Luis Gallardo Gutiérrez, students of the program of Mechanical Engineering of the same university campus who, committed to fulfill the fundamental principles of dignity, honor and honesty, granting the maximum importance to safety and health.

Erick Martín Nava Arriaga, Vice president of the first and only chapter in México, explained that members are chosen based on their excellent skill in engineering, and the fraternity has three membership grades: honor, graduate and active.

Honor members are graduates, the membership of graduates is granted to the people who have been chosen but were taken in schools without a Pi Tau Sigma chapter and the active members are selected from the classes of Mechanical Engineering from the basic area until specialty, in their respective schools, whose curriculum must be accredited.

Its advisor, Dr. Abel Hernández Guerrero, explained that the Pi Tau Sigma objectives are to encourage the high ideals in mechanical engineering and promote the professional wellbeing among their members, since the true success embodies a utility for them and the society.

At the initiation ceremony of the new members, Dr. Elías Ledesma Orozco, honorary member of this fraternity, emphasized that for an engineer is not enough to know the theoretical part, he or she must have the capability of applying this theory with a practical and useful purpose.

Besides of family and friends, accompanied new members of the fraternity, the Academic Secretary of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Martín Picón Nuñez and the Director of the Division of Engineering, Dr. Roberto Rojas Laguna.
