
Irapuato, Gto., October 10, 2016.- For the nourishment needs of the growing population, the program of Food Engineering is a promising degree, which is taught in the venue Irapuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG) for 34 years.
In the anniversary of this educational program, researchers and representatives of the industry summed to the "XXXIV Academic Week of Food Engineering" held in the Division of Life Sciences of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca and who had as guests, students from the Center of Technological Studies in Continental Waters (CETAC).
The master conferences in the first day of activities, was in charge of the department's director of development of new products of Conagra Foods, Ing. Blanca Pérez, who told the students the she enjoys her work very much in the platform of snacks, and shared how innovation occurs in a company with more than 40 brands in the US.
From October 10 to 12 the students will participate in conferences, workshops, in the innovation contests and development of food, in the student encounter of knowledge, a sports rally and talent contest, informed Dr. Rosario Abraham Juárez, Director of the Food Department.
When inaugurating the Food Week, the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, commented that the food industry with better commercial strategies, certification, sector liaison, and financial strategies, of course need Food Engineers who are capable to handle, design and innovate processes for the safe and innocuous production of food with high quality, hence, he invited all the students to use to the maximum of the activities prepared for them.
On behalf of the students who study the degree, Luis Ángel Zavala García, recognized that "the University of Guanajuato offers a lot for our comprehensive development" and made a call to all youth to live the university spirit and identity, to participate in the academic, sport and cultural activities, and involve in the initiatives of the board.
According the program, on Tuesday October 11, Dr. Mercedes López Pérez, researcher of CINVESTAV will dictate the conference "Agavinas, obesidad and microbiota". On Wednesday 12, a representative of KEM Industrial will speak about "Safe handling of chemical substances" and later, Dr. Eduardo Salazar Solís, researcher-professor at DICIVA will dictate a conference "The role of the Food Engineer in Food in the production of Nutritive Food."
