León, Gto., October 12, 2016.- With the objective to encourage and share reading among high school students from the University of Guanajuato (UG), it was held the First Encounter of Young Readers from High School.

As part of the activities of this encounter, the youth was able to share their experience as readers, in addition, there was a panel where the students expressed their experience as mediators of reading with children of rural communities, and also presented diverse conferences.

The Director of the High School College (CNMS), QFB. Martha Oliva Gallaga Ortega, recognized the effort put to make this encounter possible and invited the students to continue learning through reading.

Representing UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the Coordinator of the General Archive, Dr. Miguel Ángel Guzmán López, reminded his origins in the world of reading and how, from the hand of Edgar Allan Poe, Jorge Luis Borges, Juan Rulfo, Luis Sepúlveda, among others, has the opportunity to obtain multiple benefits from reading, such as widen the vocabulary and open the mental horizons.

Representing the teachers involved in the project, the professor at HS Salamanca, M.A. Claudia García, highlighted that this event concludes a dream which began in 2013, years where there have been diverse activities that allowed her to share her passion for reading to rural communities, as well as to partners at UG.

The responsible of the project "Encouragement of Reading practices in High School", M.A. Miriam Mendoza Romero, mentioned that after 4 years of work, the encounter was organized –proposed by the same professors and students—with the objective to resume the activities that the students have done to encourage reading.

The professor added that they are currently working so the University of Guanajuato becomes a sub-venue of the Class UNESCO of reading and writing and generate liaisons that strengthen these activities.
