jornada-de-medio-ambiente-y-creatividad-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., October 13, 2016.- With the objective to sensitize the university community in the importance of the environment's care and be aware on how we can create strategies in the school, family or work environment to minimize the environmental impact, it was held the tenth journey of Environmental Handling and Creativity.

Students from all semesters from the seven degrees at the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA), in addition of academic and administrative personnel, participated in the fourteen activities of the journey, among them stand out: workshops of germination, water culture, creation of Zen gardens and hydric footprint, also two information stands and the environmental rally.

The M.A. Angélica María Olmos Aguiñiga, Coordinator of Liaison of Student strengthening, commented on the importance of linking environmental handling and creativity to generate more interest among the youth: "we seek that the activities done in the courses and workshops generate knowledge that the guys can apply in their homes or organizations where they participate".

This event is organized by Liaison of the Student strengthening of DCEA of Campus Guanajuato, through the System of Environmental Liaison.

Forming the new generations in water culture

Alicia Cordero Cabrera, coordinator of Institutional Liaison of the State's Water Commission, gave the workshop of water culture where students from Trade, Accounting, Industrial Relationships and Quality participated: "This workshop tried to break paradigms on what is and what isn't the care of water. For many people, it's just to close the tap or see that there are no leaks in the house, but the water culture goes beyond.

"That is why we take advantage to give a special focus according the young student's degrees, so they see water as an economic factor and the implications of their shortage of the exclusive use of the liquid. [...] We got a completely different vision: Offer, demand, international trade and economic development," commented at the end of the workshop.

On her part, Lizbeth Josefina, Marco Barajas and Daniel Murrieta, students of the degree in Hydraulics Engineering, coordinated by M.A. Rocio Morales, taught the Hydric Footprint Workshop, with the objective to provide awareness of the large quantity of water required to fabricate each object we use, from a sheet of paper to food; in addition, the participants developed saving proposals applicable to their school environment.

M.A. Morales highlighted the importance of linking youth from different educational programs to find solutions to specific problems: "The result of the workshop is a material that can help in a future to work, transversally, students from engineering with students economic-administrative areas, and to generate proposals that in a moment could be used by the System of Environmental Handling of UG."

The 10th Journey of Environmental Handling and Creativity had the support of the Program of Handling and Sustainability of UG, the Committee of Sustainable Development of Unit Belen, and the Division of Engineering; in addition of diverse institutions such as the Sistema de Agua Potable de Dolores Hidalgo, Sistema Municipal de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de Guanajuato and the Comisión Estatal del Agua.
