
Barcelona, Spain, October 26, 2016.- The Choir of the University of Guanajuato (UG) arrived to Barcelona to please with their voices to the Catalan public, due to the participation of the chorus singers in the X International Festival of Choirs "Corearte", held in several zones of the city.
Aware of their cultural impact, the University of Guanajuato, projects its artistic groups both nationally and internationally, such is the case of the university choir, same that had the chance to coexist with groups from different countries, since in the festival also participated the singing children of Araucanía-Temuco of Chile; the Choir of the Cultural Foundation French-Argentinian "Jean Mermoz" of Buenos Aires; The singers from San Juan Macías de Lima, Perú; the Choir Allegro of Barcelona, just to mention some.
Along the festival, the members of the UG's Choir, participated in distinct events, where they had the opportunity to listen their colleagues and share the music of each one of their regions. Additionally, they took workshops with renowned vocal directors, Maria Guinad and David Azurza.
One of the most captivating concerts that UG's Choir offered, was held in the St. Mary Monastery of the Valdonzella, a beautiful enclosure from the "modern Catalan" style with reminiscence of medieval art.
In such place, the choir pleased the public with traditional Mexican songs, and with a selection of music that was sung in Náhuatl, which resulted in the cultural mix with sweet and soft melodies. Among the song presented were "Pópule Meus", "Christus Factus", "Ave María" & "Cantos de posadas".
At the end of their intervention, UG's Choir, received a long applause from the audience, who were enthusiastic for the music played and the talent of the university's choir.
