
Guanajuato, Gto., October 26, 2016.- With the participation of 20 educational institutions within the country and academics from Colombia, Chile, Argentina, United States and France, this Wednesday began the VI International Colloquium of History and Literature, whose activities will continue until Saturday 29 in the auditoriums of the venue Valenciana and the Department of Languages of Campus Guanajuato.
Dr. Cesar Federico Macias Cervantes, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of Campus Guanajuato, celebrated that one activity was born ten years ago as an uneasiness of colleagues of what then were the School of History and Languages, derived in a consolidated activity with international character in the university field.
He highlighted the quality of the master conference speakers in the vast programme, particularly Dr. Jordi Canal I Morell, professor of the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (France) and Dr. Celia del Palacio Montiel, from the Universidad Veracruzana and doctor in History by UNAM, member of the National Researchers System Level III.
The intention is to generate an enriching space, he said, to be used by the undergraduate and master students from both disciplines, who will the opportunity to share a high level academic event and work in one of the pillars of the university doing: analysis and dialogue.
On her part, Dr. Graciela Velázquez Delgado, Director of the Department of History at DCSH, highlighted also that the ten years of previous work where the professors created a work group that sums the profession of the historian with literature and have enriched with this different proposal.
While Dr. Javier Ayala Calderón, spokesperson of the Academic Body of Interdisciplinary Historic Studies, welcome the attendants to the International Colloquium, whose objective are to encourage the cooperation between both disciplines, history and languages, to have a wider joint vision of the objects of study that each one has proposed.
The works began with the master conference "a vueltas con la imaginación: diálogos entre historia y literatura" by Dr. Jordi Canal, and continued with the tables "analysis and theoretical and philosophical reflections: literary and historic texts"; "history, literature and press"; "frontier productions between history and literature: chronicles, biographies, memories, testimonies, historical novels and diaries."
For this Thursday, the tables "history, literature and perspective of gender"; "frontier productions between history and literature"; will be developed, as well as the master conference "Marie Langer: memory, history and autobiography". For Friday, there is, among others, the table "literature, history, journalism: the new chroniclers of the Indies and global illnesses". You can see the full programme at www.dcsh.ugto.mx
