Guanajuato, Gto., October 31, 2016.- Physical, psychological and sexual health, relationship violence and safety at home and the city are just some examples of the topics that are part of the 1st Encounter of Student Health of the University of Guanajuato (UG).
Aimed for college students, high school students and public, the 1st Encounter of Student Health seeks to promote the healthy lifestyles to favor the comprehensive development of the students through spaces for reflection, information and participation.
Hence, the event had conferences, talks with experts, workshops and a movie sample related with bio-psycho-social topics: healthy nourishment, Civil protection, sexual hygiene and health, sport activation, psychological support. STDs; family violence and in relationships; as well as prevention tools for their everyday life.
The event also helped to announce two new lines of attention in health: Citizenship and coexistence; and Environmental health.
According the Coordinator of Student Health, Dr. Uriel Franco Ruiz, the first of these lines emerges thanks to the necessity to encourage the development of activities, values and behaviors towards responsibility, freedom and justice in men and women, with the mean to generate an awareness and citizen participation.
On the other hand, he commented that the line of Environmental health is focused in the evaluation of environmental factors that may influence in the health of the people. Reason why, it focuses of the physical, chemical and biological elements and is based in the prevention diseases and appropriate ambiences for caring.
The Director of Student Development, M.A. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, highlighted that the University of Guanajuato, is the only high school in the country with a health system to watch the physical status of the students, being a pioneer on betting for prevention and promotion of health.
In addition, he assured that the institution has a first level infrastructure in the topic, with 36 attention modules, 27 spaces of physical activation, 228 health promoters and 27 teams of multidisciplinary services.
The institutions that were present next to the Direction of Student Development were: Secretaría de Salud del Estado de Guanajuato; el Instituto para las mujeres guanajuatenses (IMUG); el Colectivo Seres A. C.; la Comisión de Deporte del Estado de Guanajuato (CODE); la Fundación Corazón Animal; la Procuraduría General de Justicia del Estado de Guanajuato; el Instituto de Ecología; Protección Civil Estatal; el DIF Estatal; la Secretaría de Educación de Guanajuato (SEG); el Movimiento Colibríes; la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública; la Comisión Municipal del Deporte y Atención a la Juventud de Guanajuato (COMUDAJ); el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS); Conserva Santa Rosa; La Crecida. Ecofeminismo y Menstruación Consciente; y el Centro de Derechos de la Mujer (Cedemuj).
