Guanajuato, Gto.,November 1, 2016. From November 7 to 12, 40 high school and major students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) will be in United States after obtaining a scholarship granted by the state government through the Institute of Financing and Information for Education, EDUCAFIN-SUBE, with the objective so they can live an international educational experience to boost their personal and professional development.
In Texas, the young student will visit the NASA facilities, the Museum of Natural Science; facilities of companies such as Toyota and University of San Antonio, in addition to attend workshops in educational institutions from the same state.
At the flag ceremony, the benefited youth with the scholarship, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino pointed out that the universities have the commitment to approach the students to proper conditions for a comprehensive formation. To do so, international liaisons are required, such as the one between UG, the government and ULINKS so the students travel with a scholarship to Texas.
The international experience allows us to corroborate our capabilities and love and value more our country, said the General Rector, who expressed his total trust in the youth that obtained the scholarship will make a "worthy representation" of what Mexico and the University of Guanajuato are.
The Director of Student Development, M.A. Oswaldo Chávez Rodríguez revealed that from the 40 students who obtained the support, 36 are from a degree and six from high school, who will know space ships and "will be able to touch a piece of the moon", besides visiting companies, tour museums and take workshops in US Colleges.
He reminded that these scholarships were given fulfilling a commitment of the state governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, assumed on last May, when he revealed that they will give this support so more students from the University of Guanajuato could access international experiences.
Representing the students with scholarships, Ilse Paola Navarro Muñoz, expressed her gratitude to whom made these opportunities possible for the students, that allow to leave your comfort zone and offer a new perspective on the environment and themselves, at the same time contributes to form "global citizens."
In his message, the General Director of EDUCAFIN, Ing. Jorge Enrique Hernández Meza, said that the program of "Movilidad de Arranque" is called like that precisely because they expect to be the first of many international educational opportunities. In this term, approximately 3,300 students have been benefited, and in return, the state government expects a responsibility from the students, this is, that when they comeback they participate in projects to help the others.
ULINKS' representative, Ing. Iván Álvarez Tostado explained that the members of the attendants of the short-term benefits of living an international educational experience are the increase of the creative capability and find innovative solutions to problems they face, as well as "consider the future" by knowing the latest progress of first world countries, but the most relevant, he noted, is that it opens new possibilities for their life project –in the personal and professional aspect—.
He revealed that ULINKS supports the realization of travel to other places in United States, such as California & Washington, and starting the next year, to Canada. Hence, he invited the interested to be aware to the summons and participate.
