Silao, Gto., November 4, 2016. In the Second Ordinary Reunion of the Directive Council of the System of Innovation of the State of Guanajuato, there were strategies proposed to encourage scientific and technological projects, such as creating programs of support of the social entrepreneurship, strengthen the link between the academic and business sector, and hold events that encourage the participation of students.

In his quality as Council Member, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, agreed with his colleagues in the necessity to strengthen the work of innovation and entrepreneurship in the university, and considered that it is also required to make it visible.

The reunion was led by the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education, Dr. Arturo Lara López, who followed the agreements of the first session and asked the council members to propose actions for 2017. Hence, he proposed to create programs of support to processes of social entrepreneurship, and educational programs focused in the development of competencies.

Likewise, the councilors analyzed the pertinence of creating a center of social innovation and support offices that offer advisories, training and have a club of investors that support innovating scientific projects.

During the work session, they presented the main programs of 2016 of the Federation in science, technology and higher education, from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), the Department of Public Education and the Department of Economic Development (SEDECO). This, with the mean to reveal the available options for financing.

On his part, the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, Ing. Eusebio Vega Pérez, explained two projects before the council members. The first, a model of strategic information, whose objective is to orient decision making, the follow up of actions and boost transparency.

The second project refers to the implementation of a model of basic education, based in the development of competencies in professors and students. It is a pilot model of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (CTIAM), which will boost the talent of the students.

In general matters, the Council's President, Dr. Arturo Lara, revealed that in December, they will deliver the State Prize of Innovation and 2017 will be declared as the year of innovation in Guanajuato.
