León, Gto., November 9, 2016.- With the intention to provide the possibility to the students to share the experience of professionals of public management, as well as to identify the actual panorama of the discipline and main challenges that the government must propitiate social development in the state of Guanajuato. It was held the First Colloquium of Public Administration and Political Sciences at Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato.

The event was summoned by students of the degree in Political Science and Public Administration and was inaugurated by Dr. Alex Ricardo Caldera Ortega, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, who remarked the boom the Campus is living regarding generation of spaces for dialogue and encounter of the university community.

One of the first activities was the panel presented by M.A. Rubén Contreras Ramírez, who works as Sub-Secretary of Social Comptrollership and Improvement of the Public Management of the State. His theme was: the public policies focused on the development of our entity. He showed the model of development and the transversal axes on what he plans to base the public policies of the state government until 2035.

On his part, Dr. Gustavo Garabito, professor-researcher at the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities showed the statistics regarding education and the education average that Guanajuato possesses –5.0 the lowest national level—and the way these derive in a process denominated by the "cyclic" how due to poorly prepared labor with possibilities of social mobility and improvement of the quality of life.

The presentation of the University magazine "Re-tratando entornos" set the beginning of the second stage of the colloquium. Then it continued with dialogue tables and closed with the last panel where Dr. Alex Caldera, Director of the DCSH, was accompanied by Dr. Katya Rodríguez, professor of the same Division and Dr. Javier Manzano Maceda, who works as General Director of Planning and Evaluation of the Department of Social and Human Development of the State.

For almost two hours, they talked and conversed a dialogue with the attendants on public policies for social development in Guanajuato. Dr. Rodríguez focused on the monetary aspect, pointing out that while the income level is not improved for every person for their work, the assisting programs won't do much help.

Dr. Caldera made a retrospective to the way the state government has channeled its social support programs since mid-80's until today. On his part, Dr. Manzano explained the complexity that represents on designing and taking to different places the government programs that seek the social improvements, accordingly he said, it is about a multidisciplinary effort and aims in a medium and long term.

The colloquium concluded with a message from Ricardo Bautista, student of the educational program of Political Science and Public Management, who leads the group of students of the organizing committee, in his intervention, he thanked for the interest of the student community for actively participating in these spaces that encourage the dialogue in vanguard topics related to their career and that complement their academic formation.

In addition, he recognized the labor and time from each one of the professors, speakers and guests.
