Guanajuato, Gto., November 10, 2016.- "Times of crisis are an opportunity to triumph always looking our interior and rescuing the knowledge of the own", held the Academic Secretary of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, during the inauguration of the 2nd National Colloquium of the Network of Intercultural Studies and Cultural Affairs of the Central Western Region (RCO) of the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES).
During November 10 and 11, the participants and attendants will reflect on the topic "Interculturality, Art and Traditional Knowing" as well as the role of the cultural exchange in the higher education institutions. This is done with the end to create future networks and commitments among institutions to benefit the region.
This encounter has two master conferences; work tables to address topics such as Oral Culture and intangible heritage; Interculturality, migration and education; Traditional cultures and knowing; art and interculturality.
Likewise, two books will be presented: "Sshinda. El mágico mundo de un juguetero tradicional de Guanajuato", presented by Dr. Gabriel Medrano de Luna; and "Grupos indígenas y procesos sociales en la region del Bajío del estado de Guanajuato", presented by Dr. Ricardo Contreras Soto and Dr. Diana del Consuelo Caldera González.
Representing the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, inaugurated the Colloquium, highlighting the importance of the event in a time of deep world crisis, since he assured the encounter allows small local changes: understanding from another view the expressions, knowledge, virtues and needs of the Central Western Region of Mexico.
In this sense, the Institutional Liaison of ANUIES, M.A. Antonio González Arroyo, assured that the University is convinced that the culture has the gift to make us fall in love of the roots, through the dialogue and research, with the purpose to exchange knowledge, so he invited the attendants to generate projects to benefit the students and societies in the world.
On her part, the Technical Secretary of RCO-ANUIES, Dr. Bertha Yolanda Quintero Maciel, together with the coordinator of the Network of Intercultural Studies, Dr. Gabriel Medrano de Luna, remembered the importance of higher education and cultural studies, areas that have been undermined in the national budgets and undoubtedly have the capability to solve social problems and human development, through the humanistic studies.
Finally, the Director of Cultural Extension and Coordinator of the Network of Cultural Affairs of ANUIES, Dr. Sara Julsrud López, committed to be part of more collaborations, to create projects that allow to make a common front in the national level.
It is important to mention that, the University of Guanajuato participates in this encounter together with 10 institutions: El Colegio de Michoacán; el Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente; Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes; Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit; Universidad de Colima; Universidad de Guadalajara; Universidad Tecnológica del Suroeste de Guanajuato; Universidad del Valle de Atemajac, venue La Piedad; Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo; & the Asociación Nacional de Universidades & Instituciones de Educación Superior Región Centro Occidente.
