Guanajuato, Gto., November 11, 2016. With approximately 220 titles from the university editorial, UG Library opened its doors. This marks the beginning of a comprehensive project encouraged by the General Rectory of the House of Studies.

At the inauguration, the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, explained that with the library a great college tradition is retaken, because at UG "we are convinced that the books are one of the most wonderful inventions of the human being", he affirmed.

In a first stage, UG Library will hold the production of the university editorial, later, they will join works from the different divisions of the campus and high schools.

In addition, they'll seek to link with other Houses of Study to incorporate the works from the academics. So, they expect to have in UG Library texts from authors and institutions such as the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) and Universidad Veracruzana, added UG's Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo.

After congratulating whom participated in the project, Dr. Arias sustained that the University of Guanajuato must extend their reach and not only produce books, but work to encourage reading.

In the event, the Director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud López said that UG Library constitutes a space to find the contributions from the college researchers in different knowledge areas.

Currently, the works from approximately 115 authors area available, although, the Library, is a growing project, and answers a proposal that the General Rector included in the development plan for the house of studies.

Also, he trusted that the Library's location, installed the Plaza of the Compañia, in Downtown Guanajuato, very close to the emblematic UG's central building, will attract a greater audience.

In the inauguration of the university library were present the Secretary of Management and Development from UG, M.A. Jorge Alberto Romero Hidalgo; the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz; the Academic Secretary of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, Dr. Silvia Delgado Sandoval, representing the rector, Dr. Graciela Ruiz Aguilar; Ing. Carlos Arnold Ojeda, board member, among other members of the university community.
