Salamanca, Gto., November 11, 2016.- Art as a therapy, besides being a cognitive and communication instrument with people with different skills, is a new area of interest for researchers from different universities around the world, and the University of Guanajuato (UG) also has contributions to this interdisciplinary field.

Interested in sharing experiences of the mental processes related with knowledge, researchers from the Division of Engineering at Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, organized the International Conference "Multimedia Cognition Art-Therapy" where 11 experts from Canada, United States, Colombia and Mexico participate.

Nina Czegledy, professor at the University of Toronto, Canada, developed the workshop "Double debate", a project in which the sense of humor and imagination, visualizes the abilities of the people who traditionally are called with different abilities. Playing with cards, the participants take the role that allows them to potentiate their skills.

Mark Siprut, professor at the State University of San Diego, presented a study so the parents may know their children through their body language and dance, as an interactive game according the level of the participants.

The Director of the Department of Art and Business, Dr. Reynaldo Thompson López, considered that with inter-discipline the ideas are nurtured for the knowhow of a Division that has a great tradition on engineering, but integrating new areas such as Digital Arts, propitiates the interaction and exchange of projects.

The international conference, was inaugurated by the Director of the Division of Engineering, Dr. Victor Ayala Ramírez and organized by the Doctors Tirtha Prasad, Fernando Ireta and Reynaldo Thompson. There will be sessions on November 14, 17, 22 and 23.
