Guanajuato, Gto., November 11, 2016.- Fifty-two students from high school and from the University of Guanajuato (UG) were awarded during the award ceremony of the contest of Creativity and Innovation for their project of social, technological, environmental, cultural and artistic impact.

In this eleventh edition, from a total of 70 contesting projects, 24 from high school and 46 from higher education, where nearly 185 students and 40 professors participated, highlighted the creative and innovative work of the students that contribute to the technological, social and business development.

In front of academic and government authorities, and members of the student community; the first places were awarded in each of the categories: EcoLamp, in the category of Social Project, students from HS Salamanca; Balam Joyería Artesanal, in the category of Business Project, from HS Guanajuato.

From College, the winners were: Mentors UG, in the category Social Project, from students of the Division of Law, Politics and Government of Campus Guanajuato; Panoptic Mexico; in the category Business Project: New products, from the division of Natural and Exact Sciences of Campus Guanajuato; SOpLo – Optimal System of Localization, developed by students of the degree in Physics Engineering in the category of Business project: Services.

The awards consisted in recognitions for the winners, as well as an economic stimulus for the first three places: 15 grand for the first place, 10 grand for the second and 7,500 grand for the third place.

Responsible research and creative and innovative work of the new generations are two tools to face the moments of local and world crisis, assured during the award ceremony the General Coordinator of Academic Development at Campus Guanajuato, M.A. Gabriel Alejandro Andreu de Riquer, representing the rector of campus, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta.

In this sense, added the scholar, every edition of the Contest of Creativity and Innovation allows to open a space for dialogue to plan multidisciplinary projects to local and international problems such as the environmental care, global diseases and energy topics.

On his part, the head of the Regional Office Bajio of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), Lic. Alejandro Raúl Salas Domínguez, reminded that the University of Guanajuato is one of the four universities in the country with a larger number of patents in the year, hence, he invited all the students to reinforce the technological entrepreneurship and generate their own jobs, through the elaboration of patents that back each one of the products done in the classrooms.

Finally, the Director of Liaison at the University, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro, said to be engaged to boost the technological projects who best fit the needs that haunt society, by approaching businesses that follow up with investment and advisory.

The jury was formed by experts in each one of the categories from the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) Campus Leon; the Center of Superior Studies of Specialized Education (CESEE); Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM); Instituto de Financiamiento e Infromación para la Educación (EDUCAFIN); Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI); Centro de Investigaciones en ÓPtica (CIO); and independent consulting companies.
