Guanajuato, Gto., November 14, 2016.- The post-graduate program on Chemical Sciences of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE) of the University of Guanajuato (UG) was distinguished with the recognition in Chemical Sciences by CONACYT of International Competence, for its relevance and impact in the formation of high level human resources, in the academic productivity and in the collaboration with other universities and sectors of society.
On the matter, the Coordinator of the post-graduate in Chemistry, Dr. Estela Ramos Ramírez, reminded that the Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences already has the international recognition (for the 2016-2020 period) from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), hence this new distinction of the Master will also have its recognition for five years (2017-2021), updating both programs.
She explained that currently, both Chemical Sciences programs have a basic core of 32 professors, who are members of the National Researchers System (SNI), as well as an enrollment of 90 national and foreign students.
Dr. Estela Ramos Ramírez added that both the Master degree in Chemical Sciences as the Traditional Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences have 24 lines of research and knowledge application, among them: Employment of Chemical-metric methods in the chemical analysis; Studies on bioavailability, distribution and speciation of the trace elements in environmental, food, and clinical interest; Electro degradation and removal of polluting species; Organic and inorganic synthesis; Physical-Chemistry of dissolutions; Development of catalytic materials; Development of Ceramic materials; Development of absorbent materials; Development of biodipis; Bioinorganic, among others.
Commented that the program of the Master degree has students from various universities and majors from the country as well from foreign countries, which have the possibility to obtain a double degree and co-director, with a thesis in Spanish and a thesis in the language of origin from some university with which they have liaison with: Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain); Technological University of Nagaoka (Japan); and Université of Paris (France).
Finally, the researcher pointed out that this recognition impacts in the campus and in the students and professors since they obtain an international recognition and they use the capability of these and have more access to supports, scholarships, stays and specialized bibliographies.
