In an interview, he informed that this program of extension and non-formal education, is made years ago, from the department of History, whose scholars go to different cities in the United States, in emblematic holidays, such as anniversaries of the Mexican Revolution, Independence or the Battle of Puebla.

Among others, he said, have gone the current director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. César Federico Macías, and other professors to the inauguration of an expo about Chupícuaro in a Californian museum.

Now, Dr. Lara will give the seminar "Our lady of Guadalupe in History, devotions and art" within a great expo organized by the Bowers Museum of Santa Anna, California.

This seminar, which will be held from November 26 – 30, will be given to the countrymen and their descendants, but also for the North American who are interested, since there will be simultaneous translation.

Equally, from November 21-23, there will be workshops of family memory at schools of Mexicans, this time with the lecture of the book "La Revolución Mexicana contada para niños y jóvenes" written by Dr. César Federico Macías Cervantes, Dr. Graciela Velázquez Delgado and Dr. Miguel Ángel Guzmán López.

Dr. Lara explained that this last activity is the most representative of what is done at the Department of History, because it is a text that it was done as an academic body and the intention is to take the lectures but also, through drawings, interest children and young with another language on the Mexican revolution.

For that reason, there will be a notebook with the drawings of the book, that belong to Miguel Ángel Guzmán, so the children may color them and they will give it away in the Cultural Community Center of the House Guanajuato in Los Angeles, from which the school will cover the expenses and will have the cover published by the University of Guanajuato.

Dr. Lara Valdés considered important to sustain actions that have been done for some time, to strengthen the interest for the historical and cultural identity through the Spanish language.

He revealed that for the seminar there was a lot of interest and will be offered with the same methodology that is used at the University of Guanajuato at the history seminar of the sightseeing: with field work, for example, from the Devotion of our Lady of Guadalupe in California because that is what they are going to talk about, of the conquest and colonization of California, Sonora, Arizona, New Mexico through faith, "the other conquest" that made the Franciscans first and Jesuit later.

So, the seminar will have a tour by the Franciscan and Jesuit missions in California, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Bárbara and San Gabriel, seeking the constructive, architectonic and art elements that allow to widen what will be seen in the seminar, he concluded.
