Guanajuato, Gto., November 18, 2016.- The Council for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Humanities AC (COAPEHUM), accrediting organism acknowledged by the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education (COPAES), accredited from May 2016 – May 2021, the academic program of the degree in History of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG).
Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta expressed her most wide acknowledgement for obtaining this accreditation, since it is a significant accomplishment not only for the community that integrates the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, but all the University.
She thanked the Council that made the evaluation, for the important task, but specially to professors, students, administrative personnel and particularly to M.A. Francisco Javier Bravo, Dr. Miguel Ángel Hernández and Dr. Aureliano Ortega, who began the process of accreditation that completes today.
Is arduous work, she said, in which 150 quality indicators were reviewed, it's a titanic work, and sustained that because of the faculty with high academic credentials, proves that in this school there is great quality, "in the land of history and historians", such as Lucas Alamán & José María Luis Mora, and more recently, Jesús Rodríguez Frausto, Luis Rionda Arreguín, José Arenas Sánchez; José Sánchez Valle, Aurora Jáureguí de Cervantes, among many others.
The accreditation's diploma was handed from Dr. Ana María de la O Castellanos Pinzón, Secretary of the Council of Directors of COAPEHUM, to Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of Campus Guanajuato and Dr. César Federico Macías Cervantes, DCSH's Director.
In her message, Dr. Castellano Pinzón reminded that the accrediting council she represents, emerged ten years ago, within the Network of Schools and Faculties of Philosophy and Languages as a commitment that is kept from the beginning, because when they begin these accreditation processes to areas of humanities, emerged thinking that were the same humanists who reviewed them.
So, today COAPEHUM has more than 140 accredited programs, from which the University of Guanajuato has accredited almost all the programs, as we speak, some already are preparing their re-accreditation, i.e. the degree in Languages.
She considered important to reflect on every day's work the professors make in the classrooms, the work of the authorities in budget negotiations and study plans and in the diploma of accreditation that sometimes means, a 2-year work, hence, the commitment for future generations, is to maintain the quality levels.
On his part, Dr. César Federico Macías Cervantes, thanked M.A. Francisco Javier Martínez Bravo and Dr. Miguel Hernández, who as coordinators at their time, made the compilation of documents and worked in diverse topics towards the accreditations; and the faculty of the Department, for their commitment and day-to-day work and the accreditors because their work resumes a long time accompaniment, as well as the Rector of Campus for its support and the students for the challenges they propose and the enthusiasm they irradiate.
"Commit us so the evidences that have been evaluated become evidence of every day's work", he said, so the students finish their degree in the study plan and time established, so they can graduate efficiently and find jobs, confident that in UG they form historians of the highest quality in the country.
At the ceremony were also present, Dr. Graciela Velázquez Delgado, Director of the Department of History and Dr. José Luis Lara Valdés, Coordinator of the degree in History.
