With 4,838 students enrolled in the university social service, the students of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca are present in the educational, public, private and social sectors.

The students at the venues Yuriria, Salamanca and Irapuato participated with an expo and shared their experiences or tasks done in urban and rural zones, as well as the favorable impact in the population and organizations where they lend their help.

M.A. Susana Hernández Montoya, program's coordinator, indicated that currently the social service at the University of Guanajuato is a program of extension, and is defined as a set of activities that are part of the student in the commitment with society and project their action in benefit of this in any of their modalities: university and professional.

Currently, more than two thousand students, lend their service in the educational sector, 1,956 students in the public sector, 629 in the private sector and 243 in the social sector, which proves the potential of service that the Campus has in their zone of influence.

Social service is a mean through which they can establish collaboration agreements in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects with other sectors in the solution of local social, state, regional and national problems, he added.

Social service contributes to the comprehensive formation of the student and propitiates a social awareness in commitment with the most vulnerable groups of society. In UG's Institutional Development Plan, the indicator is measured with "Multidisciplinary projects that integrate the substantial functions and generate a high social impact."
