Guanajuato, Gto., November 24, 2016. Within activities of the International Day against the Elimination of Violence against women, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, sustained that the institution has taken actions oriented to build a more just, and equal society, "safer for women and men."

The Institutional Program of Gender Equality (PIIG) is an effort to incorporate gender perspective and the focus of human rights, said Dr. Guerrero, who recognized there still a lot to do to achieve an effective equality.

Among actions of the Institutional Program of Gender Equality, stand out the courses of high formation aimed for directors and decision makers at UG. In the sessions, the participants knew how they have built the identities of gender and the way they generate social inequality. At the same time, they had the chance to debate, dialogue and clear doubts with members of the prestige Leadership Institute Simone de Beauvoir.

To mainstream the strategies towards prevention, attention, sanction and eradication of gender violence within the university community, there was also a training program for the personnel of UG who addresses people in situation of gender violence, to provide them tools that allow to give quality and warm attention.

Also, with the purpose to sensitize the administrative personnel of the institution in the matter of gender violence and diverse manifestations, there a course for mid-level positions at the University, titles "Theoretic-conceptual framework for the equality between men and women and gender perspective", whose speakers are members of the Center of Studies and Development for the Equality and Diversity in Gender Relationships, AC.

To offer orientation for the students, there was the topic "Violence-free relationships", whose objective was for the student community to identify situations that risk their integrity or -physical or emotional- health.

At the same time, provide information on when and how to request help within the University of Guanajuato, data at the UGénero office, and how to access the interdisciplinary team of attention.

To the upcoming graduates, specifically those who are about to begin professional practices, they were talked about "Mobbing, sexual harassment in the work ambience." This activity had the purpose that the students identify the alert signs of violence in their new performance area: the professional. Whilst offering them information that allow them to access a comprehensive attention at the University.

There was also a Fair of Student Health, where the personnel of the UGénero team, of public institutions and non-government organizations encouraged the participants to share the experiences of violence that have lived, and offer information on how to get support in those cases.

Para conmemorar el Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer, en el emblemático Edificio Central de la Universidad de Guanajuato se formó la figura de un listón naranja –símbolo de la lucha contra la violencia de género- con miembros de la comunidad universitaria, encabezados por el Rector General.
