León, Gto., November 29, 2016.- With the objective to establish joint actions in public safety and crime prevention, authorities of the University of Guanajuato (UG) subscribed a collaboration agreement with the city of León.
Through workshops, talks and other activities, this agreement will allow to create awareness in the university community of Campus Leon on the risk factors in safety, besides generating a culture of prevention, self-protection and care.
UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted that the education from a comprehensive perspective has a transcendental role in the construction of a more just, free and democratic society, but at the same time, requires the interinstitutional liaison to enrich a shared vision.
As part of the activities developed in the framework of this collaboration, we can find: preventive campaigns that involve the university community, reinforcement of the vigilance around the university venues, checking the transport routes, as well as the exchange of information necessary to propitiate a timely implementation of protocols of action in a joint fashion.
In addition, the students will be able to make their professional social service, working in the prevention programs for crime prevention of the Department of Public Safety of Leon, to strengthen and develop preventive strategies to benefit society.
The municipal president of Leon, Lic. Héctor López Santillana remarked that through the collaborative effort you could generate a shared vision that allows to work in the construction of a better society. He committed to echo all the voices that emerge from the community of the maximum house of studies regarding the subject.
On his part, the Director of Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation, Lic. Elias Lira Mares, mentioned that this agreement will allow the city to know the safety problems that haunt the community to strengthen the measures for the attention and effective solution.
