León, Guanajuato November 29, 2016.- Students of the degree in Nutrition and of Sciences of the Physical Activity and Health at Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato (UG), gathered to reflect thought the documentary "Sweet Agony" which discerns on the impact of the high consumption of sugar in Mexico.

Dr. Rebeca Monroy Torres, professor-researcher at the Department of Medicine and Nutrition, who summoned to the projection of the documentary, at the end, she proposed a space to dialogue with the students where she commented "the importance that society sees the University of Guanajuato in collaboration with other organisms such as the University Observatory of Food and Nutritional Safety of the State of Guanajuato (OUSANEG) we are summing up to encourage healthy life styles."

She added that "society is entitled to us to provide as an Educational Institution. Our duty is to make visual that we are really engaged with the people of Guanajuato."

For that, Dr. Monroy Torres explained that through works such as "Sweet Agony", pretend to generate a critic reflection among students of the Division of Health Sciences.

The documentary represents an audiovisual testimony of the true and devastating reach of diabetes which in Mexico has become an authentic epidemic.

The screen shows cases such as the one of Don Gonzalo, who reflects millions of people that at different ages have been notified that they have this delicate illness. With trustable sources, it portrays a discouraging panorama in matter of public safety, since the cases increase every time, without counting those undiagnosed.

In the documentary, experts in public health portray their vision on this situation and warn the consequences in the population's health, they reflect in aspects such as the economic, because they must destine millions to fight the disease.

In addition, they realized that there are places in states like Chiapas where indigenous communities don't have access to drinkable water, however, they have access to buy soft drinks.
