Guanajuato, Gto., December 2, 2016.- What began as a Research Summer in the degree became a passion for research that led Dr. Ramón Castañeda Priego to receive the Research 2016 Award, in Exact Sciences, award given by the Director Council of Sciences (AMC).

For his career and Avant Gard research merits, the scholar form the University of Guanajuato (UG) received the award that acknowledges young outstanding researchers in Exact Sciences, Natura, Social sciences, Humanities, Engineering and Technology.

This year, AMC's Director Council distinguished young researches with its highest award; they come from the main public institutions of Higher Education from the states of Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Michoacán and Querétaro.

Hence, Dr. Ramón Castañeda Priego was proud of being acknowledged for the work he does with passion, besides, it assured that it is a form to rise research done by Mexicans who work in institutions of the country.

The young researcher is professor at the Division of Sciences and Engineering at Campus León, where he performs in the field of Physics of Condensed Matter, area that occupies the physical characteristic that form matter, specifically large systems where its components are a source of interaction, such as solids and liquids.

He reminded that his interest for research strengthen thanks to a Research Summer during his major, where he met scientists that were doing their job as a way of life. This led him to take a Master's degree and a Ph.D., then incorporate the University of Guanajuato in 2004.

Key elements to incorporate, he assured, were the strong group of researchers, as well as an important infrastructure that made the university a highly competitive institution in the international level.

From there, personal and teamwork, as well as the perseverance and curiosity, have been the direction he has followed to achieve results in their area, as well as to motivate the new researchers to experiment, fall and rise.

The Research Awards were instituted in 1961 and are considered as the most important distinction that the AMC grants and they are given to young researchers under the age of 40, in the case of men, and under 43 in the case of women.

Other characters of the University of Guanajuato have obtained this award too, people such as Dr. José Luis Lucio Martínez and Dr. Luis Arturo Ureña, both from the Division of Sciences and Engineering, who have outstood for their contribution in scientific research.

In this sense, Dr. Ramón Castañeda Priego, said to be lucky of having incorporated to the Maximum House of Studies of Guanajuato and continue consolidating the work of his predecessors, so he assured that is not a one-person-recognition, but a recognition to all the University of Guanajuato.

Next to the professor in Physics, the Director Council of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, also awarded in Natural Sciences, to Dr. Juan Miguel Jiménez Andrade, of the Academic Body of Health Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas; in Social Sciences, to Dr. Omar Lizárraga Morales, of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa; in Humanities, to Dr. Fabián Herrera León, of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo; and in Engineering and Technology, to Dr. Roque Alfredo Osornio Ríos, of the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro.
