Salamanca, Gto. December 5, 2016.- The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) approved the formation of a new student branch in the photonics area, formed by students of the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca (DICIS) of the University of Guanajuato.
IEEE is the largest and prestige Engineer organization and leader in the publication of literature in electrical, electronics and related branches such as photonics, which is the science and the technology of the generation, control and detection of photons, which are light particles.
The so-called student branches, offer numerous educational, techniques and professional advantages for students through special projects, activities, meetings, excursion and technical trips, in addition that IEEE has created several awards called Student Branch to recognize and reward the efforts of the people and participating teams.
The proud members of the branch called "Univ de Guanajuato Photonics Society Student Branch Chapter" are: José David Filoteo Razo, Armenta Oros Fernando, Luis Fernando Sámano Aguilar, Ana Remedios López Chávez, Tania Lozano Hernández, Joao M. Calvillo Rodríguez, Santiago de J. Martínez Macías, Luis Fernando Magos Torres, Francisco Javier Valle Atilano, Eliana Isabel Pacheco Chacón, Luis Alejandro Herrera Piad & Yanelis López Diéguez, advised by the professors-researchers, Dr. Julián Moisés Estudillo Ayala y Dr. Juan Carlos Hernández García.
The responsibilities of the student branch of UG, will be to deliver an annual activity report with the purpose to maintain the society of Photonics informed on the branch's, be considered to participate in some of the recognitions and help branch members through the evaluation of the regional council which grants an economic support per year in function of the done activities.
For the Division of Engineering, the approval of this branch, assumes a great satisfaction, but at the same time, it is a challenge that will require a great responsibility from the members, since it generates the start of an arduous labor to carry on diverse activities, such as, include guest speakers, workshops and seminars, as well as carrying out social functions.
An active IEEE chapter can be one of the most positive elements in the students' formation, offering programs in the designated fields by IEEE of Engineering, Informatics and Technology of Information, as well as related fields of interest.
As a form to stimulate the participants, the student branches are entitled to participate in such awards, making a series of activities and addressing several guidelines. The branch's awards split into categories, each one with its respective economic support, divided in the Branch of the year, Great increment of memberships, Branch with best performance, More innovating branch and Initiative for Older Members.
