estudiante-ug-desarrolla-proyecto-matematico-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., December 14, 2016.- Rodolfo Ferro Pérez, Mathematics degree student at the University of Guanajuato (UG), will make a research stay that will allow him to generate strategies through technological tools such as Internet of Things (IoT) to improve prevention, treatment and diagnostic of illnesses and chronic degenerative diseases.

Through this research and technological development project, the student develops and applies vanguard knowledge that contributes to the construction of a better society, in biostatistics and applied technologies in health sciences, optimizing purchases in the medical sector.

With the objective to strengthen his academic formation and within the project: "Innovation and Technology Development as a Strategy for a Better Health Management using IoT", the Mathematics degree students at the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences of Campus Guanajuato, has been invited to make a research stay at the Center of Mathematical Research (CIMAT) A.C. unit Zacatecas, under the scientific supervision of Dr. Hugo A. Mitre Hernández, researcher of mentioned center and member of the National System of Researchers (SNI).

CIMAT A.C. is a public research center in the System of Public Centers of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), dedicated to the generation, transmission and application of specialized knowledge in mathematics, statistics and computing sciences.

Rodolfo Ferro has participated in several projects, academic events and contests, such as the "International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM)", held in Boston, Mass., where recently, with a team, obtained a silver medal; participated in the "6th Contest DCEA-Innovate-Create", where he obtained the first place; also in the "3rd Contest of Creativity and Innovation of DCNE", where he obtained the first place in the "Technology Development" Category with the project "BeePortal"; at the "Institutional Contest My Life's Project", where he obtained the first place; and in the "3rd Hackbajio—Fintech", where he obtained the first place with the Project "Faceld".

In addition, during his stay at UG, he has participated in public, scientific and technological entrepreneur programs such as project Nebula, which is supported by the Department of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of the State of Guanajuato. Also, he was a Google's Student Ambassador for UG in the international program Google Student Ambassadors Latin America (GSA LATAM) in 2014-2015 and is part of "Google Developer Group", at León, Guanajuato.

In his current activity, he leads the project "Sci.Hack", that seeks to connect degree students with scientific researchers in a national level, and is part of "Science Clubs of Mexico", an initiative that seeks to involve more young students in scientific and technological development in distinct areas.

The objective of the degree in Mathematics is to prepare professionals with a sound knowledge in math as science and as a method with the capability to use them in solving concrete problems, such as economy, biology and industry. This academic program is offered at Campus Guanajuato at the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE), venue Valenciana. For more information, please visit www.demat.ugto.mx
