Celaya, Gto., January 9, 2017.- Within the commemoration of the Day of the Nurse, Dr. María de Lourdes García Campos, ascribed to the Division of Health Sciences in Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, received the award for the merit of Nursery 2017called "María Guadalupe Cerisola Salcido" for her contribution to research and technological innovation and for her outstanding work in teaching, which favors the progress in the profession of nursery.
Dr. Garcia Campos performs as a Specialist Nurse in Pediatrics in the General Hospital #4 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), in addition of being a full-time professor at the University of Guanajuato (UG).
President Enrique Peña Nieto handed the recognition at the Official Residency at Los Pinos accompanied by the Secretary of Health, José Narro Robles; as well as directors from IMSS, Mikel Arriola and ISSSTE, José Reyes Baeza; and will recognize their contributions to improve the quality of the health services in the hospital units in the National Health System.
This nursery award, consists in a recognition in matter of public health to outstanding members of the national scientific community, for actions in favor of the health of the Mexican people, they grant it annually since 2008 and this is the second time a UG Nurse receives this distinction.
With an experience of 20+ years in the clinical, teaching and research areas, Dr. Maria de Lourdes has directed major and postgraduate theses in addition of having numerous research works.
Dr. Garcia Campos, thanked her parents and her husband for their support and also to her peers and coworkers who have always been a pillar in her professional career, she said that the award represents a great challenge to continue developing research in favor of their patients, her work as a teacher and for her passion towards her profession.
It is important to mention that in Mexico, there are 356,725 nurses in the public sector, 335 in contact with the patient and 21,000 in other activities represent a third part of the health personnel.
