Irapuato, Gto. January 17, 2017.- Due to the research work they do chronic ill patients, the Department of Public Education granted the professors at the Department of Nursery and Midwifery of the University of Guanajuato (UG), the registry to consolidate the academic body "Prevention and Chronic Stages in the Adult."

The newly formed academic body enriches the scientific doing at the Division of Life Sciences, gathers professors of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, who are interested in therapeutic adherence in diabetics, chronic pain, renal failures, cognitive behavioral techniques and biological feedback.

The responsible of the Academic Body, Professor Grever María Ávila Sansores, informed that chronic illnesses are long lasting and generally of slow progression, being the responsible for 63% of the deaths.

The research group composed by Dr. Ma. Gloria Vega Argote, Dr. Gerardo Ruvalcaba Palacios, Dr. Norma Lilia Aguilera Elizarrarás and M.S. Ana María González Rangel, are already preparing new educational research, as the factors related with the desertion indexes in students.

In the liaison part, the San Gabriel Community Center in Irapuato, collaborates with a group of approximately 50 people diagnosed with diabetes, to whom they give talks, workshops and semiannual control of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, weight and size.

With this task, they're gathering resources to have more reagents that allow them to make more continuous trials, and provide orientation to the diabetic patient on the care they require.

Since 2011, the group of nurses is present in the program "Zumar Contigo", of the Department of Social and Human Development created to attend the population in marginal urban zones.

Additionally, the Infirmary professors have other collaboration networks with other Academic Bodies from other Universities such as the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and began creating links with institutions in Colombia. Although, they continue to collaborate with institutions in the health sector which are present in the locality.
