orquesta-sinfonica-universidad-de-guanajuatoGuanajuato, Gto., January 18, 2017.- This year will be special for the Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) since they'll celebrate 65 years of existence, always with the firm conviction that music will potentiate the imagination and revolutionizes the spirit.

This season will be led by high interest themed axes due to its diversity, technical complexity and historical context: "Shostakóvich File", "Monumental Symphony" and "Cycle towards Beethoven". In addition, the season will be nurtured by virtuous programs, alternate to this series.

Next Friday January 20, at Teatro Juárez, will begin the first season of concerts of the university orchestra, where they'll inaugurate the anniversary celebrations.

The head director of OSUG, Roberto Beltrán Zavala, pointed out that "to honor its 65 years, the orchestra commissioned three young Mexican composers so each could write a play dedicated to OSUG, which will be world premieres played for the first time in Guanajuato.

On next Friday's concert, the first premiere will be by the composer Francisco Javier González Compeán, who created the play "The women of Pénjamo. The march of the hostages".

Then, in April and May, the premieres will continue with the talented composers Adalberto Tovar and Jorge Torres Sáenz respectively.

"Shostakóvich File" is one of the series OSUG has been playing from the end of 2015 until today. On the matter, the head director mentioned: "We have played several symphonies of this valuable composer and we have the ambition for 2018 we would have played 15 Shostakóvich's symphonies." In the concert on January 20, OSUG will continue with the file, since the attendants to the event could listen to the "Concert for violin no. 1 in A minor, Op. 77" of the acclaimed Russian composer.

On the other hand, referring to the axis titles "Cycle towards Beethoven" it is about "confronting several composers of distinct parts of the world with that source of inspiration that Beethoven means, to evidence somehow the enormous influence he had in other artists such as Shostakóvich, Villalobos, Stravinski, etc. Likewise, they want to show the influence Beethoven had from Mozart, the classic symphonist of the XVIII century". This cycle will also mark the beginning of the first concert of the season, OSUG will play "Symphony No.5 in C minor, Op. 67" of the German composer.

With the intention to offer the public the opportunity to listen to more splendid symphonies that have been written, OSUG will have concerts that will include in their program the axis "Monumental Symphony" such as the ones from the Czech Gustav Mahler and Austrian Anton Bruckner, to mention some.

It is a tradition of OSUG to have renowned soloists and guest directors, likewise, it will have participations in the Festival of Baroque Music and in the University Cultural Festival "Espiral".
