Guanajuato, Gto., January 18, 2017. The University of Guanajuato (UG) was host of the meeting of the members of the Safety Network of the Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES), where they agreed to strengthen the joint work and present progress in the matter at the Expo SeguIES, held on March.
The reunion was summoned by the engineer Raúl Morales Aguilar, Coordinator of the Institutional Safety Network of the Center West Region (RCO) of ANUIES, and the Chief of the Department of Security of the University of Guanajuato, who exposed the attendant of the main points of UG's Comprehensive Program, at the same time he made an invitation to enrich it parting from the proposals and experiences of other educational institutions.
After knowing the work done in subject of safety in other RCO's universities, they agreed the need to intensify the interinstitutional work, for which they'll carry out an Expo on March, which will have activities such as workshops and conferences.
They also proposed the possibility that safety be included in the educational programs as an optional subject, given the importance of the subject and the need to deepen in their theoretical and practical approach.
At the session, representatives of the University of Guadalajara detailed the work done in Coordination with University Safety and exposed the importance of using new technological tools, such as social media and apps, to protect students inside and outside their educational facilities.
When welcoming the representatives of the educational institutions, the Institutional Liaison of UG before ANUIES, M. Antonio González Arroyo, emphasized that safety is a theme that concerns everyone and to solve it is required the participation of all involved institutions.
In general matters, they agreed to have at least two more meetings and the possibility to carry out virtual sessions to ease the participation of the network members.
