
León, Guanajuato January 24, 2017.- With the purpose to strengthen the culture of healthy and active aging, students of the educational programs of Nutrition, Nursery and Midwifery and Science of Physical Activity and Health, of Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG), participated in "The First Health Fair for Adults".
The event was organized by the High Specialty Medical Unit No. 1 of the Guanajuato delegation of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), with the participation of the University of Guanajuato through the area of Social Service of Campus Leon.
Through these actions, they seek to encourage the participation of the students in activities that link institutions with diverse sectors, to project the answer of the University to the social needs. At the same time, favor the comprehensive formation of the students and reinforce their commitment and solidarity with the most vulnerable sectors of the population.
Among the activities, stood out the workshops with the topic of "The good eating plate" which, through dynamics and games, oriented in an interactive manner the attendants on the food they must eat to have a better-quality life.
In addition, the students of the major in Science of the Physical Activity and Health indicated to the elders the correct way to make several exercises to preserve muscle force.
Finally, the Nursery and Midwifery students took the blood pressure of the patients and through a workshop promoted healthy habits. The coordinators of the activities were professors of the Division of Health Sciences: Ma. del Pilar Fernández Carrasco, Sandra Edith Balderas Ortega and Ericka Liliana Mier Ordoñez.
