
Guanajuato, Gto., January 24, 2017.-Within the installation of the Group France –initiative of the National Conference of Governors (Conago)—, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, proposed to strengthen the cooperation bonds in the educational and research area between Mexico and France.
At the ceremony, it was marked that the Group France was created with the purpose for the governments of France and Mexico work by the hand to detonate a greater cooperation in the educational, cultural, business and regional development areas, among others.
Previous to the protocol act, at the technical table, the possible scenarios of joint work and opportunity areas were analyzed. On the matter, Dr. Guerrero shared that UG currently has 18 higher education institutions in France, thanks to 36 bilateral academic agreements.
This year, twelve students of the University of Guanajuato make stays in French institutions, and UG receives 25, which makes France the fourth international partner of the house of studies, only after United States, Spain and Japan.
Besides, due that in 2017 the centenary of the Mexican Constitution of 1910 is commemorated, Dr. Guerrero proposed to establish a dialogue with constitutional scholars of France and Mexico.
During the installation ceremony, Guanajuato's governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, President of the Group France in Mexico, pointed out that this initiative seeks to articulate the states and cities interested in developing a greater liaison with its French counterparts, and trusted that new opportunities in matter of development and exchange will be established.
They offered total support for the group's works, the French Ambassador Maryse Bossiére, as well as the Secretary of Exterior Relations of the Mexican government, members of Conago and functionaries of the different government levels.
