
Guanajuato, Gto., January 25, 2017.- The state of Guanajuato has air, water and soil pollution problems, the importance of the sustainable development and the care of the environment is a matter that involves all society, reason which the University of Guanajuato (UG) will join efforts with the Institute of Ecology of the State of Guanajuato (IEE) to work and find solutions.
Both institutions will begin working with the purpose to strengthen research, development and innovation liaison in the environment's care area. The previous, was reaffirmed with the signature of an agreement between both instances.
This signing was held at the Ashland hall of the University of Guanajuato, place where they pact to work to strengthen the environmental quality of the state and the preservation of its natural resources, since all the cities in the entity present cases of atmospheric pollution, river pollution or trash accumulation.
Representing the university community, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, indicated that they need to double the energies to fight the problematic and said that "this agreement represents a great opportunity and a strong social commitment for the university, since the educational institution could link with the policies of the state in handling the environment."
On the matter, IEE's director, Dr. Juan Ángel Mejía Gómez, reaffirmed his collaborative commitment with UG and assured that this act will bring multiple benefits on environmental subjects. He highlighted that one of the aspects that they'll work together is the cleaning of the lagoon of Yuriria, as well as the generation and continuing of the research and monitoring of the soil, ecosystems and the quality of water and air.
Both the General Rector and IEE's director agreed that this agreement is a milestone to construct transcendent projects to benefit society and their environment.

Dante Acal Sánchez; the Director of Liaison, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro.
