Guanajuato, Gto., January 28, 2017.- To fight war, friendship. To fight blood, wine. To fight guns, words. These are the counter positions that Dr. Raúl Reyes Ramos writes about in his new poem collection "Mientras no estabas" (While you were away), facing an apparently convulse and dehumanized world.

Graduate from the University of Guanajuato (UG), with a major in Spanish Letters, a Master degree and a Ph.D. in Arts, the writer and artists Raúl Reyes Ramos, presents his work "Mientras no estabas" where the literary theory, philosophy and poetic creation converge.

The title of this poem collection has a double reference. On one side, has a romantic implication of the physical absence of a person. On the other side, it refers to the function of Twitter's social network to offer an abstract of the most outstanding projects during the absence of the user.

That is what Raúl Reyes assures, "while you were doing something else, the world was there", referring to the known micro tale "El dinosaurio", of the Guatemalan writer from Honduras, Augusto Monterroso, who prays "And when awake, the dinosaur was still there."

"Is a pause between what I was writing, a lucky answer in a convulse world, filled with violence and consumerism. In this sense, it is also a pause to thank on what is good about life", he says.

The preoccupation for today, or what some authors call Postmodernity, this historical period supposedly permeated by the de-ideologization, voracious consumerism and wild capitalism, had its seeds in his published works.

Since "33 city rounds", his first poetry book, or "Postmodernity and everyday life. Art, power and its conflicts", an essay work, Raúl Reyes addressed aspects such as the oblivion of the body, the imposition of the power of the bullets and blood, the domain of the world parting from the transnationals or the relation of the artists with power.

"What did we lose in the way of progress?" Asked Raúl Reyes in his first poem collection. Question that tries to answer with "Mientras no estabas", where the author doesn't part from a scandalized view of the current time, but seeks to serve itself from the elements that allow to rescue the sensitive, enjoy the day-to-day, coexistence, party, humor and pleasures.

The poem collection divides intro three sections, "a part that questions the vital, a pause to reflect and a pause to foresee what is coming", through which the writer soaks of the oriental literatures, such as traditional Chinese poetry, as well as Náhuatl poetry, which highlight the day-to-day and its enjoyment.

In this sense, he assured, self-reflection is necessary, but also, we have to be aware of the discussions, complications and possibilities that our time offers, since they update our forms to relate and enjoy, but also devalue us.
