Guanajuato, Gto., January 31, 2017. With the conviction that in Mexico is required to construct a culture of protection of personal data, the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) signed an agreement of academic cooperation.

Facing the rising use of technologies, internet and social media, especially at an early age, both institutions assumed the commitment to work in a collaborative work to socialize the human right to the informative self-determination.

Thanks to this agreement, a Spanish-American Hall of Protection of Personal Data will begin operations. According the agreement, INAI will give to UG the source materials for the design and set on march of the platform of the online subject, for its inclusion in major degree programs. In addition, there will be training courses and workshops aimed for teaching and administrative staff, on the reach of the Federal Law of Protection of Personal Data in Possession.

During the signing, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, sustained that the contemporary society is of "high risk", hence, this agreement with INAI adds to the consolidation of Mexico as a contemporary democratic state.

He highlighted the importance that public universities form alliances with other institutions, since "we are autonomous, but not self-sufficient", he remarked.

He also pointed out that the big problems of society have no disciplinary barriers, therefore, he revealed that this agreement is applied to different educational programs, in the different UG's venues.

In her intervention, the Commissioner President of INAI, Dr. Ximena Puente de la Mora, said that for the institute, this agreement represents a great opportunity, so he thanked the collaboration of the House of Studies, to which she distinguishes for a great academic and social commitment, she affirmed.

She also reminded that with the recent entry of the General Bill of Protection of Personal Data, it is pertinent to begin actions that contribute and create awareness in the importance of privacy. Even more, given that Mexico is the Latin American country that uses the social media the most.

The Commissioner Coordinator of the Commission of Training and Culture of Transparence of INAI, Lic. Rosendoevgueni Monterrey Chepov, who was an honor witness at the signing, celebrated that UG has an innovative and flexible educational model, that incorporates advanced technologies of information to divulge the knowledge.

At the signing were present the Rector of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, Dr. Graciela Ma. de la Luz Ruiz Aguilar; Rector of Campus León, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez; Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz; the Academic Secretary of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla; the Director of the High School College, Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona.

Also, attended, the General Director of Training of INAI, Dr. Arminda Balbuena Cisneros, ex-professor from UG; the Director of the Division of Law, Politics and Government, Dr. Eduardo Pérez Alonso, and Attorney General of UG, M. Alejandro Murillo de la Rosa.
