Guanajuato, Gto. January 31, 2017.- More than 120 events focused on science, culture and arts will begin within the program "Science is Culture" of the University of Guanajuato (UG) with presentations in all the campuses and venues of this institutions open for free for whomever is interested.

With the slogan "Dreams and equations: The power of knowledge" this cultural program will have an important change, since now it will last the whole year so everyone who is interested can participate. Research from students and professors will be presented in an attractive way in all the university venues and also enjoy movies.

In these first two months, there will be 23 events, the first will be an inaugural talk on February 8th at 12:00 at HS Celaya with the subject "What is our place in the Universe? A walk through the Solar System until the Bing Bang" given by Dr. Héctor Bravo Alfaro.

In a press conference, UG's Director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud López, said that to cover all the university venues, they proposed a new challenge to make the program a year-long, and so, generate in every student the comprehensive formation, he added that every two months, they'll present new posters with the talks that will be given.

She thanked the support of the Director of Support to Research and Postgraduate, Dr. Mauro Napsuciale, for his constant collaboration in the divulgation of science and thanks to the information from his researchers, he assured a nurtured program.

On his part, the Coordinator of Extension of Knowledge of UG, Lic. Miguel Mata Castro, said that the program has a peculiarity, and that is one of the three substantial functions of the institution: "teaching, research and extension" planting the curiosity in diverse topics in the students and participants.

He finalized saying that, in this fourth edition, the slogan represents the dreams everybody has and the way they become tangible in all areas of knowledge, besides, with the purpose to homage Julio Verne, the inauguration of this project will coincide with his birth date.

Lastly, the Coordinator of the Movie Club, Lic. Montserrat Alejandri Oyanguren said that the first two months, there will be four titles that focus in the fiction of movies with a space for reflection in the spectator, with the intention to see the movies beyond aesthetic.

The movies that will be presented in the cycle "From dream to education, talks about movie and science" in collaboration with students of the postgraduate in Astrophysics are: The hidden truth (2015); Moon (2001); The fifth element (1997); Predestination which will be presented in different university venues.
