Guanajuato, Gto., February 3, 2017.- For gender equity and fight against violence against women, the community of the University of Guanajuato (UG) represented the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, participated in the First Ordinary Session of the State System for the Equality among Men and Women 2017.

The topics they addressed in this first session were the presentation of the work agenda 2016-2018, as well as the sign of the agreement of collaboration between the Judicial Power of the State of Guanajuato and the Institute for the Women of Guanajuato (IMUG); as well as between the Executive and Judicial Power, IMUG and the State Center of Alternative Justice.

They also addressed agreements for the integration of the report of the collaboration agreement between the National Institute of Women for Equality, the Executive Power of the State of Guanajuato, the Legislative Power of the State, the Judicial Power and the Attorney of the Human Rights of the State of Guanajuato.

The State System derives from the Law for Equality between Men and Women of the State of Guanajuato, which seeks to establish the responsibility of the State and the cities to generate the regulatory, institutional and public policies framework to impulse, regulate, protect, encourage and make effective the right for equality of treatment and opportunities between women and men.

With this, the empowerment of women is encouraged in the family, politics, civil, work, economy, social and cultural spheres, in an enunciatively and non-limitative manner, to reinforce and carry the population of Guanajuato towards a more just and solidary society.

UG seeks the active participation in several structures to implement and improve the systems this institution has in the framework of equality between men and women, both in its high school students, as in their major, postgraduates and specialties students, also the academic and administrative body that are part of UG.

At the end of the Ordinary Session of the State System for the Equality, the State governor of Guanajuato, Lic. Miguel Márquez-Márquez, thanked the participating instances for their achievements that have had in Guanajuato, in topics of safety, health, education and economy, since these topics have been taking seriously and professionally, he affirmed.

He reminded that in 2014, Guanajuato was a role model for being the first state of the Mexican Republic to certify in the model of gender equity. In addition of implementing the Orange Code for the safety of the women, and actions such as the creation and habilitation of the Mother-Child Hospital in Irapuato and the implementing of reforms to the law to benefit women.
