León, Gto., February 3, 2017.- In the framework of the World's Day of the Fight against Cancer, which is commemorated every February 4th, the University of Guanajuato (UG) sums efforts to make activities with the objective to provide information about the disease, as well as to promote healthy life styles and take preventive measures.

These activities are programmed from February 7-10 in four venues of Campus León from UG. This event is a joint effort of the Coordination of Impulse for the Student's Comprehensive Development of Campus Leon, with students of the degrees in Nutrition and Nursery and Midwifery.

In an interview, Lic. Mariana Gabriela Cano, Coordinator of Physical Health, commented on the importance of carrying out these actions, which allow to address relevant aspects about the illness, besides inviting to the reflection and reveal the main risk factors of death by cancer in the world such as consuming tobacco, high body mass index, reduced consumption of fruits and vegetables, lack of physical activity, and consuming alcohol.

"We must create prevention strategies to counter the risk of disease or make the early detection to have an adequate and efficient treatment for each type of cancer and improve our quality of life", he added.

For four days, there will be information and dynamics will be carried out to promote health. Likewise, there will be an informative gallery where the participants can obtain data about the disease and express their point of view on one of the diseases with more increment in the last years.

It is worth mentioning, that according the information of the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is one of the main causes of mortality in the world, each year, 8.8 million people die worldwide.

With this initiative, the social commitment of UG is reaffirmed and the professional formation of its students that answer to one of the most relevant topics of public health in the country.
