
Guanajuato, Gto., February 8, 2017.- Within the inauguration of the Library "Licenciado y Maestro Manuel Cervantes Rendón", of the Division of Law, Politic and Government (DDPG), the university community homage the illustrious lawyer, who in 1972 donated his collection to the House of Studies.
The new library, located in the Central Building, will have a collection of 14,000 volumes –printed and digital—and will be specialized in Law, Politics and Public Management, to address the needs of the students in the Division.
While inaugurating the enclosure, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, pointed out that the first purpose of the event was to express the gratitude of the university community to M. Manuel Cervantes, for his generosity when he donated his library, the most precious for someone who dedicates his life to study, he remarked.
Likewise, he recognized the negotiations of Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta, to concrete a great university project, the Library "Licenciado y maestro Manuel Cervantes Rendón", to benefit the students.
He also informed that the ancient place the library used will be turned into an academic cloister destined to make research seminars, laboratory activities of parliamentary practices, and will also have a space for editorial production of the DDPG.
On her part, the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, reflected on the meaning of the library enclosures throughout history, and celebrated that "the modest library found in the first floor of UG's Central Building has transformed in a modern space that invites to the reading and learning".
While welcoming the attendants, the Director of the Division of Law, Politics and Government, Dr. Eduardo Perez Alonso, referred to Don Manuel Cervantes as "a man of universal transcendence", defender of the Mexican idiosyncrasy, and illustrious lawyer who gave honor and glory to his House of Studies.
To the opening ceremony, also attended, UG's Pro Vost, Dr. Héctor Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa; the Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, among other unipersonal authorities, scholars and students of the institution.
