Guanajuato, Gto., February 14, 2017. The University of Guanajuato (UG) and the City of Guanajuato signed an agreement to strengthen joint actions in the areas of safety, transport, infrastructure and culture.
The agreement proposes the development of preventive campaigns, encouragement of complaint culture, and the program "Safe home", as well as safety in the ways to the university venues; reinforcement of night's watch, joint protocols and training in civil protection.
In transport and infrastructure, they'll support in defining routes, service hours, units and streets, besides installing signs. They will also intensify the collaboration to divulge cultural events organized by the local government and the House of Studies.
During the agreement signing, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, informed that Campus Guanajuato has a population of more than 10,000 students, 120 exchange students and an enrollment of 1,700 youth at HS Guanajuato. This diversity –he said--, forces to constantly seek new alternatives to guarantee the best conditions for their development.
In this sense, he recognized the importance of the interinstitutional collaboration and sustained that between the Municipal Government of Guanajuato and the University of Guanajuato there is a strategic collaboration, a shared vision, and friendship bonds.
On his part, the Municipal President of Guanajuato, Lic. Édgar Castro Cerrillo, highlighted the availability of the university authorities to work together, and reminded that besides the areas the agreement covers, they have summed efforts in projects such as the Territorial Ordinance Plan, and the protection of the architectonic and natural heritage.
The Secretary of Management and Development of UG, M. Jorge Alberto Romero Hidalgo, emphasized that for the House of Studies can fulfill its substantial functions, it is fundamental to offer adequate conditions of safety in the university enclosures.
He also referred to the actions that will be carried out in other areas that covers the agreement: transport, infrastructure and culture, which reveal the tight collaboration between UG and the local government, and thanked the willingness of the mayor Edgar Castro and his team of collaborators.
At the event also participated the Secretary of the H. Hall, Dr. Carlos Torres Ramírez, as well as the chiefs of the areas of Urban Development and Environmental Protection, Citizen Safety, Traffic Police and Municipal Transport; Public Municipal Services, Public Construction, Municipal Civil Protection; Culture and Education and Legal Services of the City.
Attorney General, M. Mauricio Alejandro Murillo de la Rosa; Director of Student Development, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez; Academic Secretary of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla; Director of the High School College, Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona and the Chief of the Department of Safety, Ing. Raúl Morales Aguilar were part of UG's delegation.
