becarios-programa-inclusion-equidad-regional-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., February 14, 2017.- With the objective to support the twenty-two students benefited by the Regional Equity Program to continue studying, the University of Guanajuato (UG) welcomed them in their second enrollment of the school period January-June 2017.

Strategies of permanence, tutoring, psychological orientation and health evaluation are just some of the supports that the students from the north and the south of Guanajuato received in their welcome.

Who oversees the Regional Equity Program is M. Lilia Esther Ulloa Bedia, and she commented that this events seeks to follow up the needs of the students, with the objective to achieve their permanence and graduation of each one of their majors.

This support, she commented, sums to the $6,300 MXN they receive monthly for lodging, food and transport, so the institution destines more than 2 million MXN, to answer the geographic and economic obstacles they deal with.

The first edition of the program benefits students from Xichú, Victoria, Jerécuaro, Atarjea, Pueblo Nuevo, Ocampo, San Diego de la Unión, among others; all of them from SEG's subsystems such as CONALEP, CECyT and CBTIS who today are incorporated to the four venues of the University of Guanajuato.

M. Lilia Esther Ulloa Bedia assured that in the first edition "we have observed many changes in the students. They are more expressive, open and participative". However, she said, they are in constant work to continue knowing their needs and set them in the path of service to society.

On the matter, Noé Alonso Rodríguez Martínez, a Civil Engineer student and benefited from the program, assured that this support represents a great opportunity for people with low income and away from the urban areas may achieve their dreams and have better opportunities in life.

On her part, Mariana Guillén González, students of the degree in Nursery and Midwifery, reminded that thanks to this support, she belongs to the first generation of her family that courses college, which will allow her to contribute back in her community for the support she has received.

To continue this support, the students must maintain an 8.5 average, in addition of creating a social project that works as an agent of change in their birth places and help divulge their traditions.
