Guanajuato, Gto., February 15, 2017.- With a concert titled "Classic Humor" the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG) will play pieces of Mozart and Beethoven the next Friday February 17th at 20:30, this time, in UG's General Auditorium.
This concert will be special since it will have the presence of the outstanding Japanese conductor Scott Yoo, who currently is the head director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Mexico City and visits Guanajuato to present works from the most prestigious composers in the history of music.
The attendants will be able to listen "Overture Cosi fan tutte, K 588" and the "Flute Concerto No.1 in G major, K 313" of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, then they will finalize playing "Symphony No.8 in F mayor, Op. 93" of Ludwig van Beethoven.
Scott Yoo has an outstanding trajectory where he has been a guest director of prestigious musical ensembles within the world and has premiered 70 plays of 38 composers in his director's career.
In an interview, Yoo mentioned to be enthusiastic for returning to Guanajuato to work again with OSUG –he has done before in December 2015—, on the matter he mentioned that the orchestra is one of the most outstanding he has been with. In addition, he highlighted that Guanajuato is a beautiful place where he also can practice one of his greatest hobbies, photography.
Regarding the repertoire to be played next Friday, the gust director indicated that it is about a program leaning to classicism where music, focuses on the order and symmetry, "this kind of repertoire is excellent to play with an orchestra, it has a high complication level, but that is what it makes it satisfactory."
On her part, the guest flutist, Alice Dade, is happy to be in Guanajuato for the first time to work with the orchestra and play one of the most emblematic flute concerts, since she confesses to be an admirer of Mozart, to whom she defined as one of the best composers of all time.
For both guests, the music represents a fundamental part in their lives, Scott Yoo highlighted that "there isn't a facet in my life that hasn't been because of music –I met my wife through music and met my best friends through music—. I'm very proud to be a musician. Is an honor to deal every day with one of the greatest creations of mankind."
While Alice Dade denoted that music for her is "everything I want to say without using the exact words, I can say whatever I wish with music."
It is important to mention that, Scott Yoo was anointed head and artistic director of the Philharmonic of Mexico City in February 2016. He has been a director of the Mozaic Festival, an orchestral and camera music festival in California since 2005. Also, he is the director of the Colorado College Music Festival and founder of the Medellín Festicámara, a program of chamber music for un-favored young musicians.
As guest director, Mr. Yoo has directed the Symphonies of Colorado, Dallas, Indianapolis, Nuevo Mundo, San Francisco and Utah. Conducted the Orchestra of Camera of San Pablo in his Elliot Carter Festival and his debut at Carnegie Hall. In Asia, Mr. Yoo has conducted the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo and the Philharmonic of Seoul and the Philharmonic of Busan in Korea. In Europe, he conducted the Symphony of the City of London, the Britten Symphony, the Orchestral Ensemble of Paris, the Symphonic of Odense and the National Symphonic of Estonia. He makes his debut with L'Orchestre Philharmonique of Radio France in April 2017.
As for Alice Dade, she has a varied career, including concerts and interpretations of chamber music, recordings of projects and main acting in orchestras in Asia and Scandinavia.
Alice has been a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil Red de Escuelas de Música de Medellín, the Festival de Música de Cámara PRIZM and the Mozaic Festival Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Alice has played in the Busan One Asia Festival, in the Chestnut Hill Chamber Series, in Concordia Players in the Princeton Festival, in Summerfest of Kansas City and in National Flute Association Conventions.
As co-main flute of the Symphonic Orchestra of Swedish Radio, Alice made concert tours to Russia, Germany, Italy and Belgium under the direction of Valery Gergiev, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Daniel Harding.
