Guanajuato, Gto., February 15, 2017.- The cooperation bonds in the social, regional, educational and technological developments, were narrowed in the biannual encounter of the XIV Summit of Rectors Mexico-Cuba held at the University of Guanajuato (UG).
For two days, there were work tables related with topic of university liaison, regional development, society liaison, business and local technology, economy and innovation, besides making guided visits to laboratories of Mexican universities.
During this magnus event, they had the presence of rectors and functionaries of 14 Cuban universities and heads and representatives of 21 Higher Education Institutions (IES) of Mexico, as well as representatives of the public powers and directors from UG.
At the closing ceremony, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, assured that the collaboration between educational institutions is a fundamental strategy for the mutual strengthening.
He said that this project will be –in consequence—a continued process, and UG is willing to support this liaison, since as universities, we need the collaboration and learning of other institutions, since the education cannot be built in solitary.
Representing M. Jaime Valls Esponda, General Secretary of ANUIES, the Feneral Director of Liaison, Dr. Guillermo Hernández Duque Delgadillo, affirmed that this event was a success for being a referent of the dialogue and cooperation of the universities that reinforces the bonds between Mexico and Cuba.
He expressed that the work tables helped in the good practices and know the opportunity areas between countries, including one of the greatest challenges, which is working together in matter of higher education, internationalization, regional, economic and educational development.
Finally, Dr. Martha del Carmen Mesa Valenciano, Rector of the Universidad de Oriente, said the exchange journeys allowed to retake one of the main topics which is reflected in the transformation of language, of the doing in the university, education, application of knowledge and contribution of the science and the introduction of technology.
It is worth mentioning that, the Summit of Rectors Mexico-Cuba developed in collaboration with the Department of Public Education (SEP), the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES), the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba and the Embassy of Cuba in Mexico.
