inventores-ug-obtienen-patentes-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., February 16, 2017.- On February 17th is celebrated the Day of the Mexican Inventor, this date was instated since 1993 with the objective to recognize the labor of the Mexican inventors, whose work encourages the development and innovation of science and technology of our country.

With the motive of this commemoration, several patents will be given to inventors of the University of Guanajuato (UG) in a ceremony that will be held in the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, place where they'll receive the titles of the patent applications.

A patent of invention is a document where someone is officially recognized a discovery and the rights derived.

Dr. Julian Moisés Estudillo Anaya is one of the inventors, next to a research group of students of the University of Guanajuato, which will receive the title of patent for a "System of detection and reproduction of the finger movements, based in optic fibers."

In an interview, UG's professor, explained that this system "is an invention of an optic-electronic system capable of detecting and reproducing movements of the fingers in real time, using optic fiber sensors".

In addition, he mentioned that this system has the main object "to offer an alternative method for the treatment of biological signals from the human body, since it has a high index of sensitivity".

Dr. Julian Moisés Estudillo expressed that the patent means a lot for him and for the involved research group, since it is a great satisfaction to contribute the knowledge of biotechnology to the benefit of humankind. "This means a lot to me because we also contribute for our country to continue working in favor of science."

Besides Dr. Julian, other UG researchers will receive the title of its patents from the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) such as Dr. Mario Alberto Ibarra Manzano, Dr. Pedro Coutiño Soto, Dr. Miguel Ángel José González Martínez & Dr. Alejandro Gil-Villegas Montiel.

It is worth to mention that the "Day of the Mexican Inventor" was established to honor the birth of Guillermo González Camarena, Mexican scientific, engineer, researcher, composer and creator of one of the most transcendent inventions in the world: the system to transmit a television signal in colors. He also built his own telescopes and was an astronomy aficionado.
